This experience positions our company to address any environmental issue that our clients may face and ensures that the process is completed smoothly, timely and with a responsible budget.

Project: Detour Lake Mine Closure Project
Client: Placer Dome (CLA) Ltd.
Location: Detour Lake, Ontario

BZ Environmental Consulting is the project manager for the closure of the Detour Lake Mine. Work on this project has included demolition, reclamation, environmental management, environmental field data collection, environmental assessments and closure planning. Extensive stakeholder consultation and communication has been the key to the success of this project. This is an on-going multi-year project.

Project: Closure Plan
Client: Abitibi Consolidated Ontario East Woodlands
Location: Iroquois Falls Lake, Ontario

A closure plan was developed and submitted for a remote logging camp and maintenance facility which included a landfill site. The client was under a Land Use Permit and no longer required the use of the facility. A plan was developed which detailed the site characteristics, land use, expected clean up activities and final results. This was the first Land Use Permit to be turned back to the Crown in this District.

Location: Pickle Lake Lake, Ontario

BZ Environmental Consulting is the environmental project manager for the closure of the Dona Lake Mine. Work on this project has included environmental management, field data collection, environmental assessments and closure planning.

Project: Exploration Environmental Site Assessment
Client: Placer Dome Exploration Ltd.
Location: Nunavut Territory

An environmental assessment for a remote exploration property was completed. This site included several different drill sites as well as a camp. A report was prepared for permitting and due diligence purposes.

Environmental assessments for several remote exploration properties were completed. These sites included numerous drill sites as well as an abandoned mine infrastructure. Site access was via helicopter. A report was prepared for permitting and due diligence purposes.

Project: Detour Lake Mine Assimilative Capacity Assessment
Client: Lorax Environmental
Location: Detour Lake, Ontario

Environmental field samples were collected to document and develop the assimilative capacity of a watershed.

Project: Detour Lake Mine Powerline Removal Project
Client: Placer Dome (CLA) Ltd.
Location: Detour Lake, Ontario

BZ Environmental Consulting is the project manager for the removal of the 140 km. hydro line feeding the Detour Lake Mine. Work on this project has included demolition, reclamation and environmental management. Various approvals for this project were required from the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ministry of the Environment and the Department of Fisheries and Oceans.
